7900 GT AGP, Gainward does it again

As some of you may know, Gainward used a 7800 GT GPU in one of it's 7800 GS cards, giving high-end performance to the outdated AGP class. But now they are prepared to introduce the G71 7900 GT to AGP.
So don't upgrade to PCIe just yet, unless of course you want to experience the 7900 GTX or X1900XT.

Off topic, HIS is prepared to release their IceQ X1900 XTs and XTXs. It comes with a heatsink that runs 10C cooler then stock and much more quiet as well. The XT is going to run at a retail $449 and the XTX is at $529. So don't grab that Sapphire XT just yet folks.

It pretty much IS a 7900GT (since it uses the actual 7900 GT GPU), but it has to be branded as 7800 GS because it's AGP I guess. It's going to have all 24 pipelines, where as the regular 7800 GS had 16, and the Gainward 7800 GS 512MB (which sported a 7800 GT chip) had 20 pipelines, and now the newest one has the G71 chip with all 24 pipelines.

Gainward ROCKS! I have their 7800GS 512MB, and it is quuuuuiiiiiikkkkkk compared to my old 6600! Cost me a pretty penny, but I think it was worth it. If I knew they were going to do a G71, I would have waited a while for the G70 card to drop in price though. Oh well, if you wait in the world of PCs, you might just end up waiting forever!

I also think this is why they stopped making the 7800 GS 512MB cards (the ones with the 7800 GT chip). If gainward keeps making these, they would be the only ones with a 7900GT for AGP, and I'm sure they would make a lot of money off it.

why dont they just call it the 7900GS, im guessing it has something to do with legel rights to Nvidia.
