Default 7800gt or a 6800GT

Which would run better a 6800GT with 512mb or a 7800gt with 256MB? The cost about the same, anybody with real world experience?

Thanks,
Ken

7800GT hands down, VGA memory dont matter that much. What matters is speed, Pipelines, and technology. 7800GT excels in all of that, plus you can unlock pipelines to make it a GTX. If you have a choice between 6 series and 7 series, go for 7.

If you ave the money go with the 7800GT or just get the 6800GT. Its still a great card without having to spend so much.

no, there is no GTX version of the 6000 range of Nvidia cards, only the 7000 rang. the 6800s have the 6800,6800GT and 6800Ultra, the 6800GT and Ultra have the same amount of piples but the ultra is overclocked and way over priced.

Sorry mate only the 7800GT can be unlocked and turned into a GTX.

the 6800 can sort of be turned into a 6800GT though the memory is DDR and some of the models only have 128MB of memory.

you shuld have went with the 7800GT it can be turned into a GTX which is like 100 dollars more!!

Dude, bad choice. The 6800GT is indeed a good card but if you had the choice to get the 7800GT you should have.
