y does everyone keep talking about the 754 and 939 isnt a 775 an okay board.(using a pentium 4)

Well, depending on the actual chipset and brand name of the motherboard, then I guess skt775 is fine. 754 and 939 are AMD. 478 and 775 is Intel

The 775 is to Intel as 939 is to AMD. Im sure you get the point already. From what i believe 775 is the best for INtel at the moment.

okay eveyrone makes it seem like amd is one thousand times better for gaming. is the diffrence that much?

No, there isnt that big of a difference. Go to www.tomshardware.com and look for the CPU charts to see how each CPU stacks up against each other. Dont turn this into another AMD vs Intel thread, as those threads seem to disappear quickly.

Agreed. Benchmarks will tell you more than the opinions you'll get. Rank what type of performance is most important to you, and see how the chips stack up.

Actualy toms is biased and the best opinoin you will get is your own personal preference. There is no better and no worse, they are both good.

775 is the best intel has right now but when the come out with the 45 nanometer stuff they will probably get a new socket and thats gonna be awsome.
