Default 6pin 12v to 4pin 12v Converter?

Hey My friend recently purchased a new graphics card and a new PSU I installed both but the psu has a 6pin 12v and the slot next to the cpu is a 4pin 12v, things wont work no signal and when I tried plugging in part of it nothing runs help?
