9600XT is 256 DDR

they are both around the same price..and am looking to buy one very soon

Not sure about that but you can easily overclock it. My MSI Brand 6600gt overclocks aewsome and stays cool with stock cooling.

but your forgeting that prices are diffrent all over the world

and here in Perth Australia..these two cards are similar prices

Well they are dumb to price the 9600XT the same as the 6600GT because obviously the 6600GT runs circles around it.

The 9600XT is priced so expensively because of supply and demand...since there is little demand for such a card it becomes harder to maintain a profit therefore they increase the price...it is a hassle for ATI to maintain older fabs to produce older cards so the price gets jacked up

No different than any other hardware...just look at slower performing DDR vs PC3200
