Default $650 to spend~~ Help me make a gaming rig please!

hello all

After much thought, i have FINALLY made up my mind to make a gaming rig! I have a total of $650 to spend. I have no spare parts whatsoever, just the windows vista OS. So i will be starting from a clean slate. Itd be great if you guys can recommend me the parts that i should buy I am going to play these games on a 17 inch LCD monitor by the way; i heard the size of the screen matters when buying video cards

Ive always wanted to play the latest computer games with everything maxed out! now maybe finally i will be able to. I cant wait till play some games like portal, fallout3 and bioshock with everything on high!

This will be my first time, so pleasee try to keep it easy as possible. I dont think i can handle wire conversion and all that complicated stuff

Lil Edit~~ I dont need a fancy case, its the inside that counts right?

You can. Running everything on absolute MAX is hard though, and near impossible if you want to play Crysis. However you can play almost everything on pretty much very high like 1680x1050, very high low, aa/af settings for decently cheap.

yeah with this you should run crysis warhead pretty good.

cpu: Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
ram: Newegg.com - G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory
mobo: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
g card: Newegg.com - HIS Hightech H485F512P Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
psu: Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST400 400W ATX 12V 2.2 Power Supply - Power Supplies

comes to $523 on newegg before rebates. gives you 125 for hdd and case, i would probably get a 320gb WD and a antec three hundred or cheaper cm case etc. this will run crysis on high on ur 17".

I haven't really been following hardware to give exact advice but I would say something like

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards $106
Newegg.com - Intel Pentium E5200 Wolfdale 2.5GHz 2MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops $85
Newegg.com - 4850 $140 (or $150 no rebate at Best Buy for VisionTek)
Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory $50 (not to sure about these. And you need 64bit OS to use all of it and the video cards ram)
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives $85
Newegg.com - XIGMATEK HDT-S1283 120mm Rifle CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks $34

Thats about $500 after MIR. You could spend the rest on a decent case, good power supply, and dvdrw.
