Hey,

I know more of high performance parts and I've been trying to build a computer for my aunt with $650. She uses it for E-Mail, Pictures SMALL games, and just general use nothing to great. All I need is the Tower no keyboard, mouse, etc. Would like it to full ATX

Thanks for the help
(PS) I have searched and didn't like that most of them had a micro ATX motherboard.

if its something that cheap i think its best to go with like monarchcomputers or something. or these parts would suffice

not sure bout motherboards that cheap, but i think the Asus with the built in sound and video is the K8N, and its about $60 or something not sure

Caviar 250GB $100
corsair 2x512MB dual channel $100
Antec TruePower 480Watt $80 or something like that
Regular Antec case about $80
Nec 3550A $30

thats pretty good no?

Now, all you have to do is make changes where necessary. Although this is recommended by TomsHardware, how wrong can it be?

The ASRock mobo would be great for someone who is not an avid gamer. It will give your aunt alot of choices in the future and save her some money now.

Before I got caught up in the OC'ing craze, I was going to use this mobo. It has both AGP and PCI-e slots.

Part Product Price
Processor AMD Athlon 64 3200+ $152
Motherboard ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 $69
Memory Corsair Value Select 512 MB (2x 256 MB) $52
VGA eVGA 256-A8-N340-TX Geforce 6600 256 MB $113
Hard Drive Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80 GB $57.50
Optical Drive LITE-ON Black 16X DVD-ROM $19.99
Power Supply SeaSonic S12-330 ATX12V 330W $59.00
Total $519.49

Note: Add any modem of your choice and you have an emailing monster!

I changed the processor, since the 3200+ was only $3 more. Remember the memory controler is on the die, on the AMD 64's. So they are pure speed.

i like ridlyn's build...

but if you go the integrated video route.. you can get dual core

just to show you what i mean... this would be like the non-gamer multi tasker.

total: $651.97 + shipping.

and if your aunt decides some time in the future she wants to dabble in some oblivion or w/e crazy kids are playin these days, she can just stick a card in the pci-express slot.
