Default $600 computer

What components would go good in a 500-600 dollar computer?

Im thinking about a core 2 duo, and a 8800GT

Do you guys have any ideas?

Thanks

get a e6600 (or around that area) if you want something a little cheaper then the 8800gt for around the same performance get a 9600gt.

Thats a little harsh....

600-700 could be done might have to look around alittle but should be able to pick up a decent board, cpu, psu, case, memory, vid card, for close to that.

keep in mind cpu and vid card are going to be close to 400 just for the two, depend on the cpu.

Should I go for a 250mb card or 512mb? the 250 is quite a bit cheaper...

its up to you, 512 has better performance but the 256mb is still a great card, but which one are you considering. the 8800gt or 9600gt.

for your price limit i would go with 2 gigs g.skill ram (there good and cheap) but if you want to spend more on ram get crucial tracers.

This is what I was thinking

ECS 945P-A LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 2.33GHz Processor
A-DATA 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 Dual Channel RAM
Western Digital 160GB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive ( I might change it to a bigger one)
Sony CD/DVD-RW 18x Combo Drive
EVGA GeForce 8600GT 256MB PCI Express x16 Video Card
Thermaltake 430W Power Supply
Rosewill Black/ Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Case

Any thoughts?
