58 C okay on q6600

Hey guys, i have my q6600 overclocked a little, and when gaming for a while temps get up to about 58c max, is that dangerous?

No, just stay below 60-65c.

your good till up to 71c but i say 75 is the limit.

which revision do you have? if you have a g0 then your good up to around 65C

These limits are actually the tcase limits, not the core limits..the cores themselves are good for quite a bit more.

So 58c isn't anything to worry about

i wont let my cores go anywhere above 75. im gonan be lapping this week end tho.

Intel suggests the max load temparture for G0 Quads to be 71C.

I have hit 65C and NEVER had a problem....

That's the max tcase temp though....the temp of the IHS really.

Yes and far as I know the IHS cools off slower than the cores do, there by I can assume the cores are slightly cooler than the IHS...

The IHS will always be cooler than the cores because it's farther away from the heat source and closer to the cooling system.

Thats why if you look at your CPU temp and core temps the cpu temp is usually much cooler
