4870X2 vs. 4870 CF vs. 4850 CF

Does the 4870 CF overclock better than the 4870X2? If it does, does it mean that 4870 CF is better than the 4870X2? Is the 4870 worth the extra money than the 4850? How much performance difference between the 4870 and 4850?

There isn't enough user experience to say.
I can guess though.

@ stock == 4870 X2 > 4870 > 4850

4870 X2 at stock > 4870 Overclocked > 4850 Overclocked

4870 X2 == 4870 Crossfire > 4850 crossfire

Sometimes the X2 beats 4870 Crossfire, sometimes it doesn't.
Youd have to read all the reviews to see..

I would guess for overclocking the 4870 CF might turn out better because there are two cards each with its own dual slot cooling, although im not sure if the X2's 2gigs negates that. It would be safe to go with the 4870X2 though because it should be easier to sell in the future.

I think the HD 4870 is the most overclockable out of those

Well if your going to go either a HD4870x2 or 2 in CF, why would you really need to overclock anyway. I mean appart from benchmarks - they would eat any game, even crysis at max...

Still, i would go the X2 cause you can always buy another can crossfire that later if you want...

Theres no reason to buy a single or even two X2's Unless your gamming at 1920X1200 or Higher..

Same thing would go for crossfired 4870's, Slied GTX 260's and GTX 280's.

If you had them at resolutions any less youd really have to crank the AA and AF to take full advantage of the power..

If you game at at any resolution lower then 1900x1200 a single 4850 should be enough.

yeah i agree, sli top end carding isnt really worth it, for the money and becuase above like 70 framnes you wont notice any difference.

You can't expect the same overclock out of all those... and don't whine if you don't get a certain speed... I beg of you

but I'd say go with the e7200/e7300, less cache, but crazy overclocking yield, and awesome for the price
