285 isn't dual core its just a 55nm version of the 280 it requires only 190W instead of the current 230w to power a 280 it will be the fastest single card so nos is just about to get his tri-sli 280's I think and he will be superceeded in 2 days oh the irony.

the 295 tho is closer to 2 260's which the 295 is faster then. the 4870x2 was faster then cf 4870's. this is how manyt of us established that sli scales better then cf now because 2 260's was way faster then a single 4870x2 and the gtx260 192 is slower then the 48701gb. the 295 is 2 260s with 240sp but gtx 260 memory and clocks.

Excatly why i was saying that even when the 295 is overclocked to match 280 speeds its still slower than SLI 280s. We basicaly said the same thing

so let me get this straight from you guys, in terms of power from highest to lowest

sli 280s
295
sli 260s
280
260

I don't even want to include the ATI 4850 and 4870 in that list because of more confusion

???

Wait I though the GTX 260 (216 SC) in SLI performed about the same as SLI 280's.

Well this 260 216 has quite a punch

Newegg.com - XFX GX260NADBF GeForce GTX 260 Black Edition Core 216 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

I wonder what kind of performance it would push in SLI overclocked even further?

of course it's a waste when just $70 more gets you a GTX 285 which has higher base speeds/ higher bandwidth/ and more VRAM
