is 450w enough?

i've heard the forton 450w recomended to me and some other people who are overclock and i just want to know if 450w is enough for overclocking?

Flanker 01-15-2006 01:17 PM

Yea, its enough. And that Forton rocks.

molsen 01-15-2006 01:32 PM

ill second that

DFI boards officially require at least a 480w power supply.

bonehelm 01-15-2006 02:58 PM

depends on what video card you have

if its really powerful like 6800GS or above i think a 500W would be safer.

MrZucchiniHead 01-15-2006 07:03 PM

**** then i cant get it if DFI boards require 480w or above and im getting a 7800GT

Flanker 01-15-2006 09:54 PM

If you people don't think 36A are enough, get out more.

MrZucchiniHead 01-16-2006 12:50 AM

so do you think it will handle this sysem

DFI Lanparty UT Ultra-D
Opteron 146 overclocked
EVGA 7800GT overclocked
G.SKILL 2gb extreme series

and if it dosent work i could always RMA it right

Flanker 01-16-2006 01:46 AM

Yes you could RMA it, but 450W and 36A are MORE than enough. You have twice the amps suggested for an Athlon 64 system.

I concur. The Watt rating is not the end-all way to tell how it's going to run. That 450W Fortron is enough to run a DFI board and a 7800GT. And then a few extra hard drives to boot. 36A on 12V rails is a lot.
