Default 4000+ or FX-55

Nice prices at newegg....need something to last a year or so until it starts getting time to abandon 939 (also why I want to stay near $100).
Pay the extra $35 for the FX?

I like the X2 4800 over the FX, but the Opty rules the roost of AMD.

Yeah, I saw the Opty 165 too, for only about $30 more than the FX...which in turn was only about $30 more than the 4000 I was considering first...

I was just trying to resist that upward chain reaction....but maybe I'd be better off letting you guys talking me into doing some fundraising and springing for the 165.

(Hey, the 170 is only about $30 more than the 165....)

lol, always just $30 more. kinda like buying a new car, base price $24,000. After letting the salesman talk you into a bunch of worthless crap, $35000. "But it was only $600 more for it".

yea but the performance increase will be more than worth the 30 bucks, and stick with the 165 you can easily overclock it to the speeds of a 170

Opteron 165 for the win. As stated before, you can easily overclock it.

Here\'s a quote I saw once on a /b/ forum a while back, I think it\'s funny:

I\'ve been thinking of \"Heck\" lately. If it even exists, it\'s got to be a much nicer place than \"Heaven\". I mean... all the gay men are down there. You KNOW it\'s well decorated.

Note that I do not in any way condone homophobia or am in any way homophobic. I merely thought that it was clever.
