Yeah I used to have a 6800GS XXX Edition and I went to a 7800GT and there wasn't a huge difference. It was there but not astounding. Going to my 7900GT from the 7800GT with the EVGA step-up was WAY more noticeable. I should have a BFG 8800GTS 640mb OC next week, so hopefully that will be a huge step-up again :)
why the 640mb? i hear the 2900xt is better for the price

I have been wondering when I first run 3D Mark 06 in my PC the score in 3D Mark 06 that I got was 10506 now.. I have been reading some reviews e.c.t. of pretty familiar rigs and if I'm correct I should be getting easily around 11000 or maybe more without overclocking. I manage to get 11181 overclocking the CPU only to 3.44GHz what do you guys think?

Oh just to let you know guys I'm using Windows Vista: Ultimate 32bit & my primary HD is a WD Raptor 10,000RPM 36.4GB.

Well one reason is that I am getting it for 165 quid.... and everyone here seems to think the 640mb is a waste of money unless you are gaming at more than 1600x1050....I guarantee the 640mb will be useful when Crysis comes out.

I think you guys missed the part where I'm getting it for 165 quid.

The cheapest I can find a GTX is for around 290 used....with VAT and shipping even the 320mb 8800GTS costs slightly more than what I'm paying for the 640mb. And the 640mb has already proven to be useful at lower resolutions like 1280x1024

ya people are just ******bags... i say grab it

Well if you're getting it for less than that of a 320 then of course it's a no brainer and I don't even know why we're talking about it. If it's more than a 320 by a significant amount - like it is for most people - then no it's not recommended.
