ok looking for some opinions. Price is not a consideration because I have both chips. Would you use a 3700+ san diego of a 4000+ clawhammer. It seems to me the major difference is sse3 support and the clawhameer runs a 1.5v versus 1.4v. I have an after market heatsink so heat is not aproblem. At this point I have no plans to OC. benchmarks run 1 to 2% faster on the 4000+.
Thanks for the input.

4000+ just cuz of the 200Mhz boost if u dont plan on OCing, too bad u dont have the 4000 san diego core instead

Doesnt the 3700 have 1mb cache and the 4000 has 512? I would go with the 3700. Overclock it 200mhz to 4000 speeds if it makes you happy and save the money and get the 512 more cache.

Why wouldn't you want to OC, just a question, overclocking about 200mhz is pretty safe and if you have all your settings right you probably won't notice much temperature difference with AS5 and stock heatsink.

yeah i wish i had the 4000 san diego. both cores have 1mb cache. Dont need to OC right now cause the system runs eveything just fine. I agree 200mhz is pretty low. In the future I most likely will speed it up. thanks for the imput. I think I will stay with the 4000+ and not put the 3700+ back in. btw way I got it for free and thought it was the san diego. was a little dissapointed when I ran cpu-z on it.

dude, use the 3700+. just oc it 200mhz, which you can do EASILY on stock cooling. Stock cooling for my 3700+sd got me to 2.7GHz. Aftermarket cooling got me to 2.75 GHz :)

3700 San Diego all the way. The San Diego is a beast at OCing, and San Diego > Clawhammer any day anway
