Default 256mb 6600GT Much better than 128mb?

I am upgrading to Athlon 64 and will get another 6600gt Video card. Should I go ahead and pay $40 more for the 6600gt 256mb version? How will it benefit me?

I doubt you'll notice much of a difference. At the level of performance were talking about, 128 MB of memory wont make much of a difference at all. Stick with the good ol' 128 model

Not to mention more memory on a slow card like that will just bog it down. It would be like putting 512 on a 6800GT, just not worth it.

Wait do you mean you're going to have it in SLi in your current system with your other 6600GT?
I wouldn't bother, you wont see much of a difference.

Not to mention if you want SLI youll have to have the exact same card as your other one which im guessing is 128mb.

yeah, I've seen benchmarks before. The extra 128mb doesn't do anything to performance. The difference is so small, you can attribute it to margin of error. The 128mb version is the only one I'd ever buy.

I am replacing my old AGP 6600gt with a PCI-EXpress one. I thought the 256mb would help me with higher resolutions or higher AA/AF.
