Default [22" 800:1] vs [24" 1000:1] both at 5ms?

I have a choice between two monitors (detailed specs within link):

the 22", 1680x1050, 800:1 contrast LCD monitor

or the:

24", ,1900x1200 1000:1 contrast, LCD monitor

Price:
22" - $210 - $40 MIR = $170
24" - $330 - $80 MIR = $250

The 22" is clearly more than $100 cheaper. But is adding that extra $100 worth it for the 24" ?

What is the difference in the 1000:1 and 800:1 contrast? What is the difference between the 1900x1200 and 1680x1050 resolution?

Thanks.

The difference is a better distinction between black and white colors, with the contrast. And more pixels between the resolutions.

What are your system specs? Specifically the graphic card, and purpose....because if you have a relatively weak graphic card for gaming on a 24", you should just go for the 22".

Let's just say that your graphic card is really weak for gaming on either of those resolutions, if you're looking for good settings. I would say medium at most. But that would also depend on games you're playing. For movies, it would be fine.

What you can do, if were considering on spending $400+ on a single monitor, is buy the 22", and use the rest on upgrading your parts, like the graphic card, motherboard, and CPU. Or sell your system, and rebuild from scratch.

What are some other factors in buying a monitor? Does the contrast ratio from 800:1 and 700:1 have a noticeable difference at all?

The monitors in the 22" price ranges from $150 to $250. With the difference being only in the brightness and the contrast ratio.

The difference between 800 and 700 is probably not big. But the bigger the better the picture will be.

This ain't bad for the price:
Newegg.com - Hanns·G HW-223DPB Black 22" 5ms DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 1000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail

Newegg.com - SCEPTRE X22WG-1080P Black 22" 2ms(GTG) DVI Widescreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 2000:1 Built in Speakers - Retail

Wouldn't this be a better deal? 2000:1 contrast ratio same price.

p.s. what is the difference between e and t in core 2 duo?

That's the one I have. It's just that, there's mixed reviews on it. But I haven't had any problems with it. Go for it if you want.

Are you getting the monitor used or what? Cause 250 for a 24" monitor is a STEAL. The cheapest monitor ive found is 299 for the one from compusa. But, if you can afford it, go with the 24", just know that you it will require more video power than the 22" would. I love my 24", but im running an SLI setup to push the pixels.
