im looking for a new processor... and i see that amd has better ones for gaming that ive hurd... well i play high end games like fear and doom 3, they say 3.0GHz or higher? but if this is tru then intel which is cheaper with higher GHz. so yes, deeply confused, and i also dident want to spend more then 200$ and possibly wanted a dual core, but will take a single

help a negro out

I would suggest to go with a dual core to be future proof.

1. AMD64 X2 3800+ dual core - $300 (out of your range but a **** of a cpu)
2. Intel Pentium D 805 dual core- $135
3. AMD64 3700+ not dual core - $230

The Intel is a real steal because it is a dual core.

this is what i was thinking... its basicly just a update on my current system, tho i might add 1-2gb of ram with that.

playing fear and such games do u think this is good, i kno video card good :p but the processor is the only thing thats realy holding me up right now. and a bit cheaper then that one u said up there lol

Amd's cpus do more processing per clock cycle than a pentium 4, and that is why a 2ghz amd cpu can compete with and dominate a 3ghz intel p4.

The graphic card is awesome. I would suggest you go with an Opteron CPU on that mobo ( eg Opty 165 ). That mobo is exellent at OCing, if you go with an OC CPU then it would be great.
