Being as I am not as hardcore of a gamer as I once was (i still play a lot though!), I am thinking about saving a little space and making my desktop more elegant by considernig the top-of-the-line LCD shown below.

My questions are being as the native resolution for this monitor is 1280x1024, but in newer games my video card can barely manage 1024x768, will this monitor still look good when playing in 1024x768? If the IQ or refresh rate of the monitor is crap in 1024, i might as well not get this monitor. Thanks for any replies.

P.S. I have $1200 comming soon

Haven't posted in like a million years, but..yea...the price is through the roof, and the specs aren't that great...I mean, come on, a .29 dot pitch!? And the max. resolution is suppose to be larger than just 1280x1024. It's suppose to be like, up in the 2000s or something.

EDIT: My bad...I was thinking of a diff size for the 2000+ resolution. But most of the specs in the one you're looking at, Beed, are still pretty low.

I guess...my friend is thinking about getting one of these as well. Im not so sure I shouldn't just stick with the CRT....grrr...so hard decisions!

beedubaya, that LCD that you listed has been rated very highly in every review that i've seen. It's a good choice. Here are a few more that are highly rated.

1.) SAMSUNG 193P+ = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824001196

2.) VIEWSONIC VX924 = http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824116355
*** I have this monitor and it is awesome for gaming... The performance in DVD Movie playback is a "little" off, but still is a great monitor.

3.) EiZO L778 = http://www.superwarehouse.com/p.cfm?p=623233&CMP=KA18442
I've seen this monitor rated the highest? I've never even heard of it before.

My main question is will it look okay at 1024x768 even though the monitor native res is 1280x1024. Will the refresh rate be the same at that lower resolution. Excuse my noobiness on this, but I still have much to learn.

All I know is that I hope that LCD is AWSOME because I just purchased one and am waiting for it to get here =)

I'll let you know what I think once all my parts get here and I build my computer and plug that LCD in.
