First off, happy holidays. I'm currently deployed overseas and am planning to rebuild my gaming PC from the ground up when I get back to the states. As the title says my budget is $1250 (give or take a bit), with the monitor/keyboard/mouse/cd-drive/acc. seperate.
I've done quite a bit of research through a mass of forums and reviews throughout my time here and this is what I've come up with:
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 922
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Mobo: GIGABYTE P55 UD3 LGA 1156 Intel
Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 LGA 1156 Intel P55 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
PSU: CORSAIR HX Series 650
Newegg.com - CORSAIR HX Series CMPSU-650HX 650W ATX12V v2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply
CPU: Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz LGA 1156
Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-760 Lynnfield 2.8GHz 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1156 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80605I5760
Graphics Card: EVGA GTX 570
Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-1570-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Memory: CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Newegg.com - CORSAIR XMS 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M2A1600C9
HDD: Western Digital 1TB 7200 RPM
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
SSD: Corsair Nova Series 64GB
Newegg.com - Corsair Nova Series CSSD-V64GB2-BRKT 2.5" 64GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Cooling: CORSAIR Hydro H70
Newegg.com - CORSAIR Hydro H70 CWCH70 120mm High Performance CPU Cooler
All for a total of....: $1280, barely over budget.
I can't seem to make up my mind on the memory and the CPU/Mobo combo.
All but one of the PC's I've built before have been Intel sytems and they worked great, easy to OC etc. The only issue I had was with my AMD build, although I think that might have been a seperate issue as I never got it to post and never finished the build. So naturally I feel more comfortable with an Intel CPU, it's just what I'm used to. Should I go with an AMD equivilant? Thoughts?
For the RAM, I understand the way it works..timing, CAS, RAS, .016, and all that fancy stuff. What blows my mind is trying to get the right memory for my build without paying for more than what I need. I think it's right, but it feels kinda off. Is 8gb to much? 4x2 better than 2x4?
Thanks for your input, if you feel anything else is off please feel free to critique.
