hello.
this is my first post in the tech forums.

to put it the short way, i am looking for a proper power supply for my new system.
here are the details:

system introduction:
i work with video installations (multiple projectors - panoramic views)
i am putting together a system seeking two goals:
1. as many dvi-outs as possible
2. live vga input
i am not interested in any sli setups, nor raid.
video content is mainly generated inside the gpus on the fly so no big files to be read from hdd.

i am picking the asus p6t7 supercomputer mobo for its 7 pcie2 slots, in wich i plan to insert 6 video cards and one vga capture card.

system parts:
mobo: ASUS P6T7 WS supercomputer
cpu: intel i7 950
cpu cooling: noctua nh-u12
gpu: 6 x XFX geforce 9800gt green edition 512mb ddr3
hdd: western digital 150gb sata2 10000rpm
ram: corsair 6gb ddr3 1600mhz
ram cooling: corsair cmxaf2
case: lian li pc-x2000 black
dvd: samsung writer sh-s223f
capture card: datapath vision rgb-e2

thank you,
ggml

The bare minimum you need is 960W by my calculations. That's with a 90% load and 10% capacitor aging.

I would suggest the PC Power & Cooling T12W 1200W.

You won't have to worry about it shorting and it has enough PCI-E connectors to power all 6 cards.
