Exclamation $1000 Challenge...

Hi everyone,

My friend challenged me to build a computer around $1000 that has better specs than the DELL XPS 410.

Maybe it's cuz I've never built a computer, but I can't seem to build one better than this for $1000. Any suggestions? I need the real deal stuff, with links and total cost. I've looked all over newegg.com but maybe I'm looking at REALLY GOOD parts? I can't beat this xps 410 for a thousand bucks...

19 inch E197FP Analog Flat Panel
256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE TurboCache

985 before shipping, will kick the sh*t out of that dell. if you have to be under 1000.00 (including shipping) to win your bet... lose the 8600gts and get a 7900gs, that will cover the shipping costs. with a 7900gs, it will still kick the sh*t out of that dell.
sprry everyone for my sloppy cut/paste job, i couldnt get to my shared wishlist for some reason.

Nagasama... Just wondering why you chose to go with AMD rather than Intel..?

Some of you guys are forgetting the monitor and ms vista... haha

montdj, your link doesn't work.... it's only viewable if you are logged in with your account.... I'm curious on what you set up is...

Of course we would never permit to engage in illegal copying or contribute to the further improvements in this industry but there are quite a few not so legal vista copies out there. I tried but failed I did make a good system with 8800gts 320mb, 2gb of ram and a amd64x2 with some artic silver 5 a hsf and a 20" monitor but that brought me up to $975 vista from ulterior methods and I would of won
