I love reading custom builds, and suggestions on these forums so I thought why not give it a try.

Alright so I have 1000 bucks to spare, and I'm attached to the 8800GT 320M everyone has been talking about. I know the costly vid card will vastly shorten my low 1000 budget; can it be done; efficiently? I need everything included except the keyboard/mouse.

Heres the low stocked 8800GT for $279.99.
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, Digital Cameras and more!

You meant the 8800GTS 320mb.. not the 8800GT 512mb.

Q6600 $280
P35-DS3R $130
Tuniq Tower 120 (HSF) $45
Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 $90
Lite-On DVD-R/W $30
8800GTS 320mb $280
Xclio 500W $70
Seagate Barracuda 320mb $95

Grand total of $1020 w/o Tax

* prices may vary ; these prices are listed on Newegg

This is without the monitor and some other stuff. Will this be a budget build? If it's going to be one, I think you should look towards AMD.

Yeah its a budget build and it looks good but a bit expensive w/o a monitor included. Hmm I should go AMD then?

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ $74.00
Biostar Tforce 550 $75.00
Crucial Ballistix DDR2 800 $90.00
Xclio 500W $70.00
WD Caviar 250GB SATA $65.00
EVGA 8600GT 256mb GDDR3 $109.99

Total of $484.00 w/o tax, s&h, or MIR

I don't exactly have everything on here.
Monitor, Optical Drive, Computer Case, Fans, and Operating System isn't included with the build listed up there yet.

Yeah, maybe wait for a bit, until more info on the 8800GT is out, as it seems that it might out perform the 8800GTS 320 for less cost.

Get the 8800GT.
It outperforms both GTS'S, and rivals the GTX. MSI's OCd card is a monster and ill be willing to bet that if XFX makes a XXX version it will toast the GTX. It puts the XT to shame.
