Default $1,300 build for friend...suggestions?

I have been talking to a friend and he wants me to build him a computer... He has $1,300 to spend so I am thinking this:

Case:
MB: EVGA or Asus?
CPU: enough for i7?
HDD:
PSU: Corsair 750?
RAM:
CD/DVD: Basic something for $35
Monitor: something 22inch maybe?

I am up for suggestions... thanks for the help in advance

Don't bother getting that gfx card, get a standard clocked one. e.g. Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100283-2L Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card
