Default 1,200 dollar card?!

a friend wanted me to see his ATI card on newegg, so i was looking around and i found this pny card that is selling for 1,200 dollars! judging by this review (http://www.amdzone.com/modules.php?o...tid=159&page=3 ) i don't see how it could cost so much!

does anyone know why?

Workstation graphic cards are very expensive and aren't designed to play games. A 7600GT will probably do better in games then that. It's for serious pros that are working on 3D rendering.

because it is designed for CAD.

if you put a 6800 GT up against the Quadro 3400 in CAD, the Quadro would be far ahead.

gaming is a different story, the Quadro cards are not designed for gaming

Nvidia's cards:

GeForce - 3D gaming
Quadro - workstations.

ATI's cards

Radeon - 3D gaming
FireGL - workstations.

not exactly, the architecture is actually almost identical, but the control board on the card and the drivers are way different
