Default Is your hard drive SMART?

Just found out mine was last week. Got a message on bootup that the drive was in need of service. I ignored the message.

Guess what? The drive died today. Ahhhh!!!! Took me all day to recover, and I'm still not there.

So I guess SMART is SMART. Found this handy Q&A in case you don't know what SMART is.

I've heard horror stories about SMART causing loads of POST problems and other problems, but never me. In fact, SMART has saved my butt twice.
