I agree, stick with XP....Vista basic is just that - BASIC and XP will run better on that machine, plus, as mentioned, too many missing drivers for Vista still and XP is much easier to get help with because everyone's familiar with it. XP will be around a long time yet.
I upgraded my laptop to Vista Premium and my desktop to Vista Business.....I wish I would have waited....not because it's hard to learn, just because of the glitches and lack of drivers.
