XP Home or XP Media Center Edition

well i just don't like the media centre edition interface and XP Professional has a lot more features than XP Home

Hi, I just put a Hauppage card into my xp box and had a lot of problems with mediacentre playback after caputre (just had a trial of media centre edition). After some searching I found GB PVR software which I find a lot easier to use. I think it depends a lot on your tech literacy, if on the lower end you'll probably like MS media center more...oh, and XP MCE is just XP Pro with the MCE addition (if you didn't already know this).

Yes. MCE's Media Center application is very nice, though. However, Pro is much more stable than Home and MCE.

Same here but i just got it for the TV tuner to make things easier.And I like the interface myself I thinks its just a personal opinion.

I have both XP Home and XP Pro, but have not used XP Media Center Edition.

The difference in Home and Pro is neglegible. Pro simply adds some options that are better for businesses; mainly better security for networking.
