Would like to migrate all data from old HD to new HD. Help me please?

Hi!

Ok, I have an older Maxtor 1TB and recently purchased a brand new WD Black Caviar. I would like to migrate all data from the Maxtor to the WD Caviar, and I would like to remove the old Maxtor.

The Maxtor presently has all my Itune podcasts and music as well as all Windows Media Player files. I would like my Itunes and WMP to access all the saved Podcasts and music and WMP from the new WD drive.

I am not sure how to set this up. I realize I could simply transfer all data from the Maxtor to the WD, but I do not think the Itunes would read the Itune files from the new drive.

Must I create an "image" of the old Maxtor, then migrate the image to the new WD, or would a simple transfer work?

I do have a few copies of Ghost 14 and 15 laying around that I have never used, and I have also heard about Clonzilla.

What should I do?

I think you will have a much easier time if you use Clonezilla. Just image your old drive to your new.
