I have parts from an old Socket A rig laying around. I was thinking I would build a budget Socket A rig using those parts for gaming, ftp server, Linux repository/mirror.

I have an AXP Barton pre-39 3000+ unlocked, a Lite-On DVD -RW 4x, CD-ROM Drive.

I'm thinking of adding the following:
Shuttle AN35N $70
Coolmax Case w/ 400W Coolmax PSU $33
Sapphire Radeon 9800 Pro Refurb $89
Dynatron BH-625 HSF $13
AS5 $6
Corsair VS DDR400 512MB $40

Prolly gonna oc, is that ok? Is it worth it? Or should I just drop the idea?

That actually sounds pretty good if you're willing to shell out the cash. So how's linux, my friend told me to get the gentoo version and run a dual OS on my computer. Still not sure how to do it though...

sweet setup. I mean, that's a very nice way to 'throw together' a rig. In my neck of the woods, if parts are laying around, it's a P3 or something. 800mhz of raw power...

Alright guess I gotta do that. I was thinking to get the DFI Lanparty nFII Ultra-B instead if I can find one as they are phased out.

That is all I want.
