Ok, well a friend of a friend has some ddr1 ram that i need for an upgrade, however he is only selling it with the motherboard in which it is currently installed. All i know at this point is and I quote "MSI dual cpu 1.2ghz amd" with 2x 512MB ddr1. He is asking $50.

I wanted the ram for an HP pavillion 540n with 2x256MB and a 2.4Ghz intel P4 (only running at 1.8 for some reason, mobo specs claim to support up to 2.53Ghz). Is there any way to tell if that is an aftermarket (OC'able) mobo, does MSI make prebuilt-mobo's? and all other components should work fine if i were to swap mobo, cpu, and ram correct?

I've never seen one, but could he possibly mean that it is a 2 cpu mobo? Are there any dual core AMD's that use ddr1 ram?

Yes, MSI does make some prebuilt mobos. Also, your friend is full of crap as there are no 1.2GHz dual core AMDs. A dual CPU board would have to be a socket A board to have a 1.2GHz which would be much older than what you have.

I am using a dual core AMD with DDR RAM, a s939.

If you want RAM, grab these for $58. It will max you out with RAM.
