Default Windows 98 Machine

Greetings!

I haven't been on the forum for a while, but I thought I'd get some help regarding my latest project...if you can call it that.

Basically, I have a load of old games that won't run on XP upwards. I would like to build a machine that will take Windows 98 and be able to play the old games I have.

I tried installing 98 onto an older pc of mine that I reaquired from my other half, but it's new enough that 98 just doesn't want to run.

So, what I'm after is a spec that will meet my needs of old game playing I hope you guys can help me.

If you need any other info, just shout

D.

I would look at getting something from the dump, you should get a P3 or something without issue. Or you could try running 98 in a VM...

Why not run a win98 VM on one of your newer systems?

I have been thinking of that, but I'm not entirely sure how reliable VM software is regarding older games. Will it run fine, i.e. sound/graphics wise and also stability?

Plus, I love having various machines dotted around my computer room doing various tasks.

I've never had a problem like that with a VM.

I'll give it a go sometime.

Is there any particular VM software you'd recommend?
