I'm looking to get a pretty nice monitor. I want the monitor to be at least 19". I was looking around on newegg, and came acrossed these LCD widescreens. They look nice and are cheap(under 200). I was looking at this WD LCD monitor, getting great reviews and all. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824254001 What are your experiences with a LCD monitor, Widescreen LCD, are they good for gaming? I will be playing counter-strike when I can, no other games. The monitor is also 5MS, i hear anything under 8MS wont have 'dead pixels'.

Anywho, my question is what do you think about this monitor, do you think it will play games well? be good for just regular internet browsing, moves, dvds w/e. Or would getting just a regular LCD be better.

Thanks~

about the dead pixels, i think its a myth. I think its a good monitor to play cs. just remember that youll notice some ghosting even with the 5ms, compared to any crt. But youll get used to it over time.

I have an 8ms viewsonic LCD and there is zero ghosting...that is a myth...depends on the quality of the panel.

Anymore comments? Anyone who actually has a widescreen LCD monitor. Do you think it would take time to get used to playing a FPS game on it? Any sites that have reviews on these monitors? Any help would be appreciated

Well, i'm definately going with a widescreen LCD, i'll just have to adjust to it while playing my games. I've come down to these 2, one is obviously more known(the brand) but one is 5MS opposed(sp?) to the viewsonic. Which one would you get? (or you think theres a better one of the two w/o going over like 250+tax)

With probably another 6600GT, I only play CS, and a 6600GT destroys CS lol

This is all for a different PC, i'll be away from my home PC(sig) for a while.

edit: How good is tiger direct? zipzoomfly is terrible, I cant even navigate the site w/o getting a headache.

My 19" 8ms has slight ghosting, but the ghosting is so minor it doesn't really effect gameplay and its a small price to pay for no more headaches and less eye strain.

Widescreen is the future. Anybody buying an LCD now should go widescreen.

Unless you put them side by side, or there is a review out there comparing the two, its hard to say which is "better"
