I was comparing an old and new hard drive, and noticed the sata drive had no master/slave configuration. Is this because ide drives can run off the same ide cable while sata drives do not?

Also, can ide 100 and ide 133 run off the same cables and motherboard?

Where can I get a good 120G ide drive? I can't find any on newegg.

master and slave settings only exist because two drives can be used on one IDE cable.

SATA cables are much smaller, so they don't bother having multiple drives on the one cable. They can fit a whole lot more ports on the motherboard.

IDE 133 drives can run on the same cable as IDE 100 drives, but not at different speeds. The speed will be the maximum speed of the slowest drive. In this case, 100.

Or if you are using only a 40 wire cable, they'll both run at 66; since the cable bottlenecks both.
