AnandTech: Intel's 32nm Update: The Follow-on to Core i7 and More

So this is probably the best article out that lays out the intel roadmap clearly. What I find interesting is why intel is going to abandon quad cores for the 32 nm die shrink? I will probably be getting a new laptop around this time next year, but with this information I will have the option between a 45 nm quad core, or a more optimized 32 nm dual core westmere.

Also doesn't make sense on the desktop either. The economy could be a reason, but it still doesn't make sense to not even have a couple quad variants.

Any thoughts?

Probably because they want to focus on the new 45nm quad-core Lynnfield and Clarksfield processors. At least until the Sandy Bridge architecture arrives.
