im coming in last, ive only spent about 650, because i have a microcenter by my house and wait for everything to go onsale there

Your friend is full of it. The core 2 architecture was no were even close to complete 6 years ago so it's not possible for him to have had a processor based off of it. Also the highest oc for a Intel quad is somewhere in the 6ghz range and it was done using liquid nitrogen cooling which is far from viable for 24/7 usage.
