Ya alot of lower end boards have VIA chipsets, I noticed many boards that support PCIE and AGP (other than ASrock) use VIA chipsets.

cuz VIA pretty much dominated the market in AGP department. Now AGP's gone their gone aswell.

They are gone, they just don't do many Motherboard chipsets anymore... They produce chipsets for add-in cards, and are pretty big in the ITX market (it seems).
