Default What's up with all the Opterons?

The question is self explanitory. I just want to know why everyone wants an Opteron suddenly.

They are mostly used in servers, but not made exclusivly for them.

main reason = EXCELLENT OVERCLOCKERS

San diego's are great for gaming and Oppy's are almost the same but for some reason cheaper ( i think ) and overclock soo much higher.

Just to refresh, if you were to want to upgrade to an Opteron, you'd need a new motherboard and that's it, right? Everything else should be interchangably compatible, right? *shrugs* Even the video card?
