What videocard should I buy?

Ok so i have a sempron 2800 socket A version. I want a decent vidocard because I am a budget gamer, but I want to play the good games too like half life 2 and doom 3 and guildwars and battlefield 1942. So i want to know what is the cheapest videocard i could buy that will be able to handle those games? thanx guys in advance




p.s. my friend saaid he had a geforce 6600 and an itnel p4 2.8 ghz processor and he said that his computer wouldn't handle doom 3. is this true? and do i have to spend like 200 dollars on a videocard just to play the good games?

I handle doom3 just fine. you need the 6600GT and its about $150 for the card.

I dont see a reason why it wouldnt but I would def go with the 6600GT first then a new processor. Go with eVga or Gigabyte for the card. Buy from www.newegg.com.

you might want another 512 stick to be sure...and im not sure but it might run it on all low settings...

all of those combos blew , but yeah the 6800GT is the second best Nvidia card right now. i'd go with the eVGA version.

gigabyte 6600GT is 500/1000. Evga is 500/900. I like the gigabyte better!
