Well you should switch to SATA regardless of speed improvement. Sata istself is still better than ide, and we all use Sata, don't get the wrong idea. Just realize that there wont be any speed increase.

Sata can auto config hard drives, so there is no need for jumpers, its smaller and takes up less space than an ide cale, Sata itself is faster, so thing like Raid arrays can be faster.

Yeah, absolutely. Nobody would suggest getting IDE at this time if your mobo supports SATA.

I hope his mobo supports Sata, pretty much all motherboards since 2003 do.

If you can believe the manual, it does support SATA.
