actually pc parts are only gold plated, which is only a few microns thick.....even less than you thought you could get

How big of importantice is the thermal glue on the processor? Meaning is, does dry glue affect performance?

It's thermal paste (or thermal compound), not glue .

It's very important - it's what helps fill any air gaps between the CPU's heatspreader and the heatsink. Yes, dry thermal paste can affect thermal conductivity.

Thank you. If i were to buy thermal paste for my intel celeron b800 processor, lol big name,poor results. Is there a special type to get? Or stay away from?

I generally get TX-2 because it's cheap and one of the better performers. Some of the other popular ones are IC Diamond, MX-4, and AS5.
