Does a processor really determine how much ram you can actually use? Mine moves around at 1.50Ghz. So would there be any advantages on 8gbs of ram? Would it hurt it more than improving the speed?

The CPU speed doesn't - but the architecture and chipset do.

False. Can still eBay it for gold recovery . Albeit, not very much.
