the AMD K10 CPU's, according to AMD, will have an IPC of 4.
Combined with their onboard memory controller, 4GHZ hypertransport speed, shared L3 cache, and various enhancements to improve prefetching and latencies, a 2.9GHZ K10 should really give the Core 2's a run for their money.

They'll be in socket AM2+, which will utilize the 4GHZ HTT bus.

They'll work in normal AM2; they'll just drop down to a 2GHZ HTT bus.

Yep, all im waiting for are the Kuma and Agena chips and the AM2+ boards and it will be a combo to give C2Ds a good run.

AMD 4000 can be bought for about $70 on the 939 socket setup. good cpu for the $$$$ highly reccomended.

The K10 will most likely be the Core 2 Killer. Intel will probably lay low for a few like AMD did with their K8's but not as long and then bust out with their new CPU's or something. I believe the Penryn is 45nm and will be coming out Q1 of 08.

They renamed it to K10; for some reason they didn't want to use the K9 label.
