What is a bad GHz range?
What is a good GHz range?
What is a excellent Ghz range?

Range as in 0-10GHz (example).

Comparing GHz on CPU = bad
Comparing # of cores and architecture = good
comparing # of cores, architecture, power efficiency, features, and speed = excellent.

a core 2 duo E8400 3.0 Ghz will run circles around a Pentium 4 571 3.8 Ghz

trolling a bit here... but...

depends on the task.
for basic operations, e-mail, youtube, word and excel, facebook and general browsing, almost any modern CPU will do.

you wouldn't want to use a desktop CPU for google servers for example.

i5 2500k is pretty much the king for that type of work.
