what does this mean?

Hello-

I am looking at a proccessor, and in the description at the end it says "512Kx2"

Here is the copy and pasted portion:

Athlon 64 X2 4600+ (2.40GHz, 512Kx2)

what does the 512Kx2 mean?

That refers to the amount of L2 cache. L2 cache basically acts like a buffer to keep the CPU fed with data.

Cache is the onboard memory of the processor

512kx2 means that there is two boards of 512 in the CPU, you have a total of 1gb cache

the more cache the better

That would be fast. My PC now has 512KB cache, and it's fast..
