It's way faster than a 2.4ghz P4, it can probably be compared to an athlon 64 3700+

ive heard its pretty similar in performance to one of those single core centrinos
but it is more battery friendly

Centrinos aren't actually processors, it's a power management technology for intel's mobile chips. All of Intel's mobile chips such as the Pentium M, Core Solo, and Core Duo have had Centrino technology.
