Nvidia has serios naming issues regarding that card. If they wanted to release a crippled 512mb model they shouldn't have renamed the 384mb and 798mb 8800gs'.

That xfx one is still gddr2 but at least it has the full 96 sp's.

I upgraded a friend's PC with a 4670, and it's a pretty descent card. About equivalent to a 3870, except it uses less power, and scales better with AA turned on.

Yeah, it is a nice card. Now Sapphire made a GDDR4 version as well, with a nicer fan.

Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100255DDR4 Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR4 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

Can I Crossfire two 4670s, one with GDDR3 and one with GDDR4?

Not sure if I told you guys or not, but the video card at CC was for the regular 3560, not the AIW. They want $71 for it but I just found it at newegg for $49.99

They wanted $90 for the AIW so I passed

Looks like i have some research to do

I don't listen very well, I thought twice:rolleyes:

I looked into it and ended up comparing it to the card that I now consider the front runner for me and there are some differences I just don't know how significant or relevant they would be to me. Here's what I found:

MSI R4830-T2D512 OC Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card $89.99 + $10 MIR and Rainbow6 Vegas2 game

Some of my observations are:

In comparison to the HIS card, this MSI card

has the newer Radeon 4830 gpu
has a core clock nearly 200Mhz slower
has twice as many Stream processing units
has a memory clock 200Mhz slower
has double the memory interface
utilizes solid state caps and chokes

That being said, which one would you go with?

I'd go for the 4830
I just read some reviews on these two cards and the 4830 out performed the 4670 pretty handily in the majority of benchmarks, most cases doubling the performance of the 4670. That being said I think my mind is made

Thanks for the help guys:cool:

Is it just me or do people come here for cheap cards and leave with gaming cards?

I think its an affect we have on new comers. Leading them down a path of never ending computer upgrades :D
