video cards

hey everyone, im new to this forum so im not quite sure what im doing, but i have a quick question on some video cards.

i have a dell dimensions 2350 with integrated graphics, and i play aloooot of CS. 1.6 and condition zero work fine on it, but i just recently got HL2 and it wont run for crap on my computer. its a pentium 4, running at about 1.8 GHz, with 512 MB of ram, with 2 open PCI slots.

i was wondering, what video card should i go with? and/or if i should just spend the money on a whole new system (and if anyone has time to maybe send me the specs for a new system for playable cs:s, but not too expensive) i would really appreciate it.

You only have PCI slots, so you'd be really restricted on cards.

Your best bet would be to build a new system if you want to game.

if you have to stick with that machine... see if you can bump up to 1GB of RAM and look into getting a FX5500/ATI 9250 PCI card... that might help. What's your budget look like for a new build?

well i was thinking about selling that computer to a friend, probably only like 1 or 2 hundred just cause its a friend, but im guessing on a budget of no more than about 700, maybe 800. but all ill need is the tower becuase i have a monitor and keyboard and a mouse. and i dont really want anything too over the top, just something that will run source well.

you can build a pretty decent system for 7-800... go for it...

then look around... Newegg will do you very well.. but there are other places as well... just depends on what you want and and if you want all new parts, or can handle refurbished...
