You do realize his question was for a video card that could play hd movies. I bought an 8500 for my media pc because its used for playing MOVIES. So back to the original question, yes an 8500GT will play HD movies just fine.

And his sig said he had a 7800 GT. So, based on that, I was expecting that he would have wanted a powerful 3d performance card.
