Default Video Card

Hi guys, I have a unsophisticated question about video cards. Is there a benefit to upgrading a video card if your not into gaming. Does it help with watching movies etc. Right now, All I have is the basic onboard card. Also, if I should upgade how much should I spend?

Are you having issues with your video play back now? If not, then you will not gain from it. However if you choose to buy a card, $40-$50 will buy you a low end 128mb card that will be just fine.

No need to spend all that money for video playback IMO.

I'm not having issues with my card but thought if I bought a fairly cheap card it would still be better than the onboard card. What benefits would I get out of upgrading? Would movies look better, would it be better for surfing the net. I am new to computers so I don't know very much.
